Alot has changed over the summer.......
Since 1997 SLR Rentals has operated in Ohakune, in 3 seperate locations/buildings, moving and upsizing as the business grew.
2026 is our 30th season!!!
But change is in the air. SLR has sold it's rental operation to Turoa Ski Area (Pure Turoa). But 2026 is a transition year. The business will still be operated by SLR, as SLR, with the same 'everything'. We, now and in the future, will still keep on supplying amazing service at great prices to both Turoa and Whakapapa skiers and boarders, sightseeers and snowplay/sledders.
SLR's world class workshop has not been sold, but will still maintain the rental fleet to the same high standards of the past 29 years, and still supply customers with their own equipment, both new and existing, the highest quality tuning services in the North Island, at prices that won't break the bank!
Of Course in 2025 the building was been extended and Pure Turoa now has their Ohakune HQ which includes tickets and retail.
So now you can rock up and get you Tickets, Retail, and the best value Rentals in town, all in one place.
You can still book online for Rentals with SLR via our website, and receive a 20% discount for 2026.
And don't forget our world class ski tuning service........nothing comes close in the North Island!!!!
If you ski alot, regular customers can save big time with our 10 trip pass. It is the most affordable way to rent our skis/boards! Enquire when you are in store!
Pay up front for 10 rentals (only 2 can be redeemed on any given day) and save.
Starter $200 ($20 a day)
Recreational $250 ($25 a day)
Performance $300 ($30 a day)
10 trip card does not expire....so do not lose it!!
2024and 2025 were a poor snow seasons, so we did not put out many new skis and boards, so we still have a ton of new skis and boards to add to our rental fleet for 2026! When we have good snow cover on the trails, this new equipment will start hitting the racks :)
